The Asian Development Tour (ADT) will again visit Phuket, Thailand, for the Singha Laguna Phuket Open, organizers announced. The event, won last year by Thai Pavit Tangkamolprasert, will be held at Laguna Golf Phuket from May 22-25, featuring a THB4 million (US$119,000) prize. This marks the seventh consecutive year and the first Thai stop of the season for the ADT event.
ADT General Manager Ken Kudo expressed delight in the tournament's return, acknowledging its importance and popularity since 2017. He thanked the All Thailand Golf Tour, Singha Corporation, and Laguna Golf Phuket for their continued support.
The Singha Laguna Phuket Open is co-sanctioned with the All Thailand Golf Tour, a long-term ADT partner. It's the seventh addition to this year's schedule, with more expected. Last year, the ADT held 12 events across eight countries with a total prize pool of US$1.5 million.
Jakraphong Thongyai, Commissioner of the All Thailand Golf Tour, emphasized their commitment to Asian golf talent development through this partnership with the ADT, led by Ken Kudo. He also lauded Laguna Phuket's Managing Director, Paul Wilson, for his crucial role in making the tournament a platform for emerging professionals.
Last year, Pavit Tangkamolprasert won by one shot after a final-hole par, securing his eighth ADT victory. Paul Wilson of Laguna Phuket expressed his pleasure in hosting the event again, highlighting the partnership with the All Thailand Golf Tour in showcasing Asian golf talent internationally. He noted the ADT's co-sanctioning enhances the tournament.
Laguna Golf Phuket is part of Asian Tour Destinations, an elite network linked to the Asian Tour. Currently, 13 top Asian golf clubs are affiliates. Recently, Aidric Chan of the Philippines won his first ADT title at the Lexus Challenge in Vietnam, moving to third on the Merit list, behind Thais Tawit Polthai and Filipino Juvic Pagunsan.
